Presidents Message

May is here and we want to welcome our two newest members to the Kern River Valley Chamber of Commerce family. Those new members are Greenhorn Breckenridge LLC (a real estate property inspections company owned & operated by Brandon and Julie Anne Sorensen,) and Kern River Valley Eagles, Aerie #3156 in Mnt. Mesa. Thank you for your support and commitment to the Kern River Valley.

Just amazing to believe we are already through one third of 2024; Mother Nature has blessed our lake with water and she is steadily rising. As of April 30, 2024, we are at 321,000 acre feet; it should be a fantastic year for all water sports from river rafting to boating and fishing for all to enjoy.

We once again want to give a huge shout-out to the amazing team of volunteers who worked so tirelessly on making the Isabella Lake Fishing Derby successful and enjoyable for our anglers. Words alone cannot express the gratitude from our anglers and myself, but thank you.

This weekend being May 4, 2024 is going to be full of events in the KRV beginning with the Siretta Street Yard Sale in Kernville,  a Wildfire Preparedness Event in Circle Park which will have valuable resources for our property owners, a car show, and will finish with Bingo Bonanza at 5:00pm at the Senior Center in Lake Isabella. Good luck to everyone, from finding that special bargain to the participants at bingo; the weather is going to be fantastic so let’s get out and enjoy our valley air.

Just in case some of you have missed the construction at Kissack Park, the first section of concrete has been poured for the skate park. I personally want to find a way of incorporating a bench or some other permanent object to the dedication of Ms. Karene Williams; this lady worked her butt off for many years on this project and we lost her just before it came to be. If you have ideas on how we can make this happen so we can honor Karene, I am open to suggestions. Karene, I do miss you along with many others as well.

We just want to remind everyone that property clearance is due in early June and it is all of our responsibilities to do our clearance so all of our homes are protected. If you see a neighbor in need of assistance and you have the ability, please lend a hand. This valley has amazing people who continue to do amazing things; this is what makes the KRV an amazing place to call home.

Please stay safe, utilize your Chamber of Commerce as we are here for you.

Fred Clark,

President KRVCC
