Sparky
Posted: August 26, 2015 - 8:44 am

Our dear Sparky, you left us way too soon. When I first saw you online at the Bakersfield Animal Shelter, you were a pile of matted hair named “I need a bath,” and I decided to help you find a good home. The Canyon was closed due to rockslides, so I couldn’t save you that day. I reached out to all the rescues I knew of to request their assistance. Finally, the Bakersfield Shelter informed me that Simi Valley Rescue had saved you and I was delighted, but for some reason, I continued to keep an eye on you to make sure you went to a good home. Our paths met again when your foster mom got sick and the rescue needed help. I volunteered to drive to Simi Valley and bring you to our place for fostering, but they chose to sign you off to me and I decided to keep you as a member of our family. At first, you were a feral dog and a scared soul. Eventually, we earned your trust and you called us your family. I realized your real talent when I brought home Bilbo, another feral and scared dog from Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue. You gave him a couple of days to settle down, but then pestered him by being cute and friendly and asking him to play with you. You helped Bilbo become whole again and sent him home with his new family. These past two years, many more Bilbo(s) passed through our place, and every one of them got to know you, as you rehabilitated their broken souls. Our time with you was short, but you left us with so many wonderful memories.
