Brenda Louise McGowen

Brenda was born in Bakersfield, Calif. and passed away in Southlake at the home of her brother from pancreatic cancer, Brenda went to be with our Lord and Jesus Christ on Jan. 21, 2012 after a short illness. Brenda was preceded in death by Great-grandpa and -grandma Wolford and her first child Michael McGowen; she leaves behind her loving dog “Honey.”

Brenda is survived by her parents Michael and Judy Deems of Southlake, father Jack A. Johnson Jr.; brother Jack A. Johnson III and sister–in-law Kelly Johnson of Southlake, sister Shelly Deems of Bakersfield, Calif. and nephew Logan. Brenda was survived by four children, Jessica, Ralph, Sarah and Joshua McGowen all of Ridgecrest, Calif. and one special little grandson Jayden. Brenda is survived by many aunts and uncle and many cousins. She is survived by nephew Eric Devilbiss, and niece Erin Johnson and husband Michael, and great-nieces Emilie Annis, Abbie Maltone and great-nephews Clayton Johnson and Eric Devilbiss II all of Bakersfield, Calif. Brenda is also survived by nieces Amanda Campbell and Aubrey Campbell.

Brenda spent a lot of her time at Cerro Coso College in Lake Isabella where she had many, many special friends; she was due to graduate in Human Services in May.


Brenda was a kind-hearted and loving lady; she loved her movies and special shows on TV.

A special potluck memorial is planned for Feb. 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the home of her brother at 8933 Main Street in Southlake. Any questions can be answered by calling (760) 378-2735

A special thanks to KMC and Odyssey Hospice for the care and compassion they showed her. Forever loved, but never forgotten. Special Thanks for the community for all the donations that have come in for Brenda, God bless you all.
