Something to think about

Wednesday (last week), the heavy hand of the Federal Government once again frustrated the will of the people. Judge Vaughn Walker overturned the part of the California Constitution that states that marriage is between a man and a woman as 'unconstitutional.'

This ruling is a complete abandonment of common sense and the laws of natural order. Now a person can call themselves a tree, but that doesn't make them one. Likewise, redefining the institution of marriage to include persons of the same sex does not change the nature of the relationship. Homosexuality is, and always will be, a disorder. What happens when some fringe PETA member wants to marry her pet? Will we also be denying her "Equal Protection" and "Due Process" rights under the Constitution if we deny her a marriage license? Something to think about.

" There have been several teens in the news lately who killed themselves because they were tormented at school for being gay. Yet there is resistance to the idea that schools must address anti-gay bullying because of "freedom of speech" issues. I get it. Straight freedom to bully is more important than a gay kid just trying to live his life. That is the thing that society must change, and it will NOT happen as long as people just go back into the closet and shut up because it makes some close-minded jerks more comfortable. "

" Good come back Celia! I got it but I doubt Barbara"truth" did. Wow,"truth" you just keep getting worse. Your last post is even nuttier than others. Question: how many of those closeted Gays got beat up? Fired? Tormented in other ways? Didn't report it because of "good ol' boy" law enforcement? For every one you claim to know that did OK I'll bet hundreds didn't.And being "out" is the only way to creat a much needed change:now everyone knows that they know a Gay person. It's harder to hate when you really know someone. "

" You say you are obtaining comedy material Celia, well, I gotta tell you, I could write a book about your obsession; about pushing your gay agenda. I have known homosexuals long before you were born, and none of them felt everyone else had to talk, praise, and agree with their issue, most were very talented, productive, rich in living their lives, just as normal people do, in fact they acted normal, they did not push their issue until everyone was sick of it....but then, maybe that is why there are so many analysts in Northern California....? "

" Good morning! Right back at ya "truth".

I long for the day when I can "just live my life" and sexual orientation was not an issue. But that is not the current reality. Idiots keep trying to keep wonderful Gay people closeted, where we are not free to be our delightful, creative selves. Just like the "insane, uppity women" about 90 years ago who forced their will to vote, I too will stand up for justice. It's kind of fun hanging with you on this line. I get lots of comedy material. "

" Well Celia, I call posting on every site about homosexuality and same sex marriage "flaunting" your preference; why on earth would you do this unless you are unsure about it? If I was as secure in my feelings as you say you are, I would quit trying to have everyone accept your lifestyle---just live your life, stop trying to push it down our throats! "

" The same lame excuse was made for slaves getting married: mixed race marriage: mixed religion marriage. And if marriage is really about ONE man/One woman, they why not outlaw divorce and multiple marriages?

Marriage has changed over the centuries and will continue to do so. It used to be a bill of ownership, having to do with property rights. At one time, pologomy was the traditional marriage.Arrainged marriages are still the "norm" in some places.

My marriage is tainting nothing but expanding the idea of comittment. We aren't "flaunting" we are simply being true to ourselves. "

" You're not listening! The institution of marriage was NEVER intended to include homosexuals. No one was thinking about homosexuality when it was put it place. We're not in fear....We're protecting a sacred and sanctified privilege designed and instituted for ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN! It has nothing to do with fear! Homosexuals have every right to be together if that's what they want, but don't dilute or taint our society, or flaunt your sexual preference. This is offensive. We should be ashamed of ourselves for letting our country decline to this moral level. But it's the price of freedom. "

" I'm glad to see reasonable people posting on this because the origional letter writer is anything but.

Here's something to think about. Exactly what are you afreid of? Define your fear in realistic, provable terms; you can't. Because fear around same sex marriage is irrational. You can't give proof as requested because there is none. So please think about what and why you are afraid and pray for love to cast out fear. "

" Joe, would you please direct me to the documents that have called being gay a "disorder"? And, while you're at it, you could also include the description of natural order please. Marrying a pet is a cop out. Can't you find a real reason to object other than the Bible and God? "

" Just because "the people" vote on an issue doesn't necessarily mean it is right or Constitutional. If it doesn't pass legal muster then it shouldn't stand. Democratic republic doesn't mean mob rule. "

" Joe. Here's the deal. Being Gay is not illegal. The off topic, fear based "what if" comments concerning people marrying pets(illegal)is a pathetic cop out used by those with no legit leg to stand on.Many couples worked very hard and spent lost of money to challange prop H8 in court. Judge Walkers 136 ruling consist of 80 findings of facts that prove prop H8 does nothing but try to place Gay people as second class citizens. Read the ruling, then you can make an educated comment.
