The Broncs track team traveled to Cal City on March11 to compete.
Kern Valley fell behind early 26-46 at one point in the meet. It did not take long before the Broncs came through in the later events to take the meet 67-60.

In the relays you only get five points for being first. No other points are given.
In the 4x100 meter relay, Travis Gibson, Matt Reilly, Mike Donnelly and Jose Lopez teamed up and placed second with their time 51:47. In the 1600 meters Ignacio Anzaldo time of 5:21 placed him first and Tecumseh Claude’ placed third at 5:23. Tanner Cargile at 5:26 placed fourth, Chris Connolly 5:42 put him in sixth place and Joey Pistocco 7:42 put him in seventh place.
In the 110 meter hurdles, Darren Rhym placed first with his time of 22.31 and Julian Deems at 23.44 took second place.
“It was a fun meet, our competitors treated all of us with respect,” Deems said.
Kyle Kirkpatrick’s time of 23.50 placed him third and Nathan Halliwill at 24.51 put him in fourth place.
Doug Peaslee in the 400 meter race ran in 63.41 to put him in third place, Bret Sorrells 65.04 took fourth. The time for the remaining runners was Jordan Lacher (67.85), Kevin Bishop (68.72), Carlos Banuelos (69.0), and Chris Connolly (71.11).
In the 100 meters, Tyler Parker had a time of 13.30 to put him in third place. Deems timed in 13.37 placed him fifth, Matt Reilly (13.47) placed him sixth, Jake Hodge (13.48) put him in seventh, Edward Rich (14.42) put him in eighth place, and Kevin Bishop (14.50) placed him in ninth.
For the 800 meter race Claude’ came across the line at 2:27.78 placing him second, Pistocco placed fourth with his time of 2:26, Sorrells (3:01) placed him fifth and Banuelos (3:03) placed him in sixth.
In the 300 meter hurdles, Rusty Muncy cruised to a time of 44.67 to take first place. Hodge (52.43) was third.
For the 200 meter race Lopez (27.47) placed him in fourth.
In the 3200 meter race Anzaldo crossed the line at 11:45.80 placing him in second place, Cargile 12:14.67 put him third and Claude 121:42.78 placed him fourth.
“We really worked together to win the meet,” said Cargile.
For the 4x400 relay teaming up for the Broncs were Lacher, Sorrells, Banuelos, and Bishop they lost to Cal City with their time of 4:51.92.
The Long Jump event for Muncy paid off. His jump of 18’2” placed him in first place.
Muncy said, “I put my heart into the meet and walked away with three first place and one second place.”
Stuart took second with his leap of 17’10”, Gibson placed third with a jump of 16’4”, Peaslee jumped 15’, Stanfield 14’9”, and Matt Reilly 14’7”.
In the Triple Jump, Stuart’s jump of 37’7” placed him first. Muncy (35’8”) put him in second and Lopez took third with 34’4”. Stanfield jumped 30’7”.
High Jump Muncy went over the bar at 5’8” to collect the first place spot. Hodge (5’2”) placed third. Other jumpers were Stanfield (5’2”) and Lopez (5’).
In the shot put, Edward Rich took second place with his toss of 36’8”. Donnelly 34’7” put him in third.
In the Discus event, Alvarez flipped off a toss of 97’1 ½” to capture the top spot, Donnelly (92’2”) put him in second, Halliwill (88’10 ½” ) placed him third.
Other competitors for the Broncs included, Stuart (82’6”), Rich (75’9”), Parker (75’8 ½”), Huckaby (74’5 ½”), Peralta (65’10”), and Couch (61’11”).
“I was really proud of how everyone helped contribute to the win. The athletes really came together as team to win this meet,” said head coach Brian Christianson.
