Different site for cell tower

Published on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 10:18 PM PST

Some say that there is no radiation danger from cell phone towers, and some say there is a great danger.  Either way, our property values will go down if that tower is placed in our residential neighborhood simply because of the public perception that there is a danger. Nobody wants that thing in their yard and it’s presence would have to be disclosed in any real estate deal, and then the deal’s off.

Verizon needs to find a different site for the tower, and Kern County Planning must deny the zone variance and conditional use permit. Do you hear this, Supervisor McQuiston?

" Or one could argue that access to reliable cell service and internet service would be something a potential buyer of property within Kernville may view as benefit. I do not believe that a cell phone tower is a required real estate dicslosure. "
