Elaine Potter

Elaine Potter, 91, of Big Spring, died Feb. 12, 2010, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 11, 1919, in Hutto, Texas, to Mary Ellah and Pendry Evans Little. She grew up in Howard County, but lived most of her life in California. She had been a beautician and owned several beauty shops in Bakersfield, Calif. She later was a bookkeeper for an accounting firm in Bakersfield and her husband’s business, Potter’s Auto Center. Mr. and Mrs. Potter later owned the Fun Club for teenagers in Kernville, Calif. Her hobbies were her farm, driving, and church activities. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Big Spring. She is survived by one step-brother, Robert Beall and his wife Bobbie Sue of Big Spring; two nephews, Mark Coldiron of Knott and Danny Coldiron of LaMesa; and several cousins including Jim Bill Little of Big Spring and Jack Little of Austin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Jay “Jack” Potter; one sister, Senie Coldiron; and one step-brother, Joe Beall.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, Feb. 19, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kern River Valley Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sierra Valley Mortuary.
