Edison: The never-ending rate increase.

Published on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 10:17 PM PST

Check out you new electric bill. Now Edison wants sixteen million in rate increases to pay for bark beetle trees.

To bad our local loggers cant go to the utilities commission and get a few million in subsidies.

I know! How about Edison taking some bids from those out of work loggers? I am sure they will harvest the trees for way under sixteen mil.

I have some beetle killed tree here at my house.I am sure that I don't have as many to contend with as Edison does, but I would like to apply to the utlities commission for a subsidy to cut down my dead trees. We will have to have a hearing at some undisclosed place. Of course the public will be welcome as long as they sit down and shut up.Think it will work?

Here is my message to Southern Cal. Edison.

Times are hard for everyone;suck it up and tough it out with the rest of us.

" I just looked back at my bills since it's tax time. In Dec of 1999 I paid $1.34/gallon for propane. It was $2.38/gallon when I bought this fall, ahead of the cold season. That's just about doubled. Wow! I'm shocked. "

" According to the PUCs website, Edison residential rates have gone from 11.5 to 15.5 cents per kwh from 2000-2009. That's almost all due to natural gas prices, which, like GASOLINE PRICES, have doubled or more.

Your thought of QUADRUPLING is just assinine. "

" That is spoken like a loyal employee. Has Edison considered absorbing some of those cost instead of passing them on. Edison should have some social responsibility to the communities they serve and at time when people are truely struggling it would create good-will to share that burden. Whether not Edison is allowed to collect isn't the point. The point is we have seen our electric bill quadruple in the last decade. Edison's most recent finacials show a net income of 758 million dollars for 2008 (2009 not available yet). "

PUC Ordered Cut Down wrote on Jan 9, 2010 8:29 PM:

" The CPUC ordered Edison to cut down the trees. Otherwise Edison, like MOST OF US, would just let them stand unless they were hazards. If the CPUC wants to ORDER Edison to do something, then the CPUC MUST, BY LAW, allow Edison to collect the money to do it.

I don't like obeying speeding laws. I don't like paying taxes. But I do both anyway. "
