The writers of our Constitution had the foresight to stipulate, among other requirements, that only property owners were qualified to vote. I don’t necessarily agree with that rule, but I do think that only tax payers should have the privilege of voting. If you don’t have a vested interest in our government why should you have the right to direct it by voting?
At the present time our elected officials are putting the economics of our children’s future in great danger and they seem to think that the taxpayers will be able to fund their “wildest” dreams and schemes. It was never intended that we taxpayers support all the world’s needs as well as the ones here who seem to not want to work. No aid should be given to governments but direct to people in need, after all their leaders,in many cases, are responsible for their condition.

Governments can not tolerate parasites and leaches so think about what you do when you go to the polls.

You do not know who I am and no one thinks of me as a nutcase in this community, quite the contrary, however, everyone knows all of you are pro-gays and embrace the local progressive movement in this valley and are fairly new to the area! Just because you say so does not mean it is. "

So this endless local drivel of Liberal this and conservative that, means nothing. Neither have a voice anymore. Read "corporations rule" and billionairs. "

What makes you say that Local thinks freedom is taking advantage of others and what does that have to do with MLK? Also, progressives will be first in line for what? A little clarity would be appreciated. "

The "reason" one had to be a property owner to vote was not exactly nobel. Black people(slaves) and women could not own property therefore could not vote. I shudder to think that some today wish that were still true. Our world is better when ALL are equal and ALL have a voice.
If helping your neighbor is our countries "wildest" dream, I'm all for it: as was another great teacher you claim to follow. "
