Brian's Song

An article appeared in The Sun several weeks ago which left many of us appalled and bewildered. It was a sad story about a local man who had been murdered. Included in the paper’s account of the circumstances surrounding the tragic stabbing death of Brian Sarver was his prior criminal history. This was inexcusably insensitive, and a grave disservice to a man who lost his life while protecting two female friends.

To honor the memory of the man whom I was privileged to call my friend, I will now include in my letter what you left out in your article.

Of course Brian wasn’t without faults, who is? Rarely, however, will you find a person who possesses the same combination of good qualities to the degree he did. Brian was uncomplicated. He enjoyed helping those in need. He was funny, care-free, fearless, valiant, generous, trustworthy, and reliable. A valuable ally, he was an equally formidable foe. Brian died the way he would have chosen, rescuing damsels in distress. Beloved and irreplaceable, he will be missed for a long time to come.
