A Bodfish man missing since June who has been the subject of an intensive search has been identified by Kern County Coroner's officials as the dead man found in the lower Kern River by whitewater rafters Aug. 15. An autopsy revealed his identity, Jon Roman Summons, 49, and that he was the victim of a shotgun wound to the head. Initially it was thought that the body found was a drowning victim from 2005 or 2006. The body was found in the river about a mile east of Borel Road.

" What happened? Was he the victim of a serial killer? Was he a random victim of a gang initiation? Why? Why did this happen to Jon? "
