IRS announces standard amounts for telephone tax refunds

The Internal Revenue Service today announced the standard amounts that most long-distance customers can use to figure their telephone tax refund. These amounts, which range from $30 to $60, will enable millions of individual taxpayers to request the telephone tax refund without having to dig through old phone bills.

Airborne Inc. establishes trust fund for county school districts, including KUSD

With more school districts struggling to keep programs in arts and music alive, Airborne Inc., an herbal product in the cough and cold aisle, announced recently that it will provide the Airborne Teacher Trust Fund, a nonprofit charitable corporation, to fund art and music programs in elementary and middle schools that are in jeopardy of being lost due to budgetary limitations.

Army Corps to begin work on Isabella Dam

Drilling equipment and crews will begin collecting soil samples and performing other geotechnical work at Lake Isabella's Auxiliary Dam starting this month. The work is part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' ongoing seepage and seismic investigation.
